Town of Stephens City

Newtown Heritage Festival

16th Annual Newtown Heritage Festival

May 24th-25th
Memorial Day Weekend

This year’s festival will be one of the Town’s major events in the Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of Stephens City originally known as Stephensburgh and later as Newtown.

The festival features a mile long parade that will be held on Saturday along Main Street with Fireworks as a finale to the day’s entertainment which will include the nationally known George Hamilton IV and the New City Band out of Nashville.

Other events will include an arts and crafts show, artisan displays and special museum exhibits on both days. One museum that has been a favorite over the years is when the Steele Brother’s mercantile store reopens. The store is located at 5353 Main Street and is open to the public during the Newtown Heritage Days.

Another museum that will be open will be an exhibit of 18th century artifacts of the early days of the Town which will be on display at the Newtown History Center at 5408 Main Street.

The Town is also encouraging local businesses to display items of historic nature that relate to the Town or their business in their store fronts.

Old wagons, tractors, and vintage automobiles can be seen at the Town Commons on Main Street over the weekend.

The Newtown Heritage Festival is a celebration of the Town’s past and present and there will be something for all to see, eat and enjoy!
